Ripped Jeans For Women: The Chic-est Ways To Style Them
Whoever came up with ripped jeans was either lazy (to fix the jeans) or a genius. We’ll go with the latter. Back then, jeans with holes in them was a sign of either bad quality or some sort of misfortune; but now it’s a staple in our very own wardrobes. But hey, we ain’t complaining! With so many variations to choose from - distressed jeans, bleached jeans, boyfriend jeans - we’ll find the perfect pairings to go with it for you
Ripped: Distressed Jeans
As opposed to the clean-cut jeans, these are grungy and bold. Not really appropriate for the office, but definitely great for off-days. You might want to refrain from wearing it for outdoor activities, your jeans are distressed enough as it is!. Pair with a vintage tank top or a plain tee, depending on what look you’re going for! Monochrome tank tops complement it best as it adds a more vintage feel, but if you’re not into that, a white tee works just as well.
Ripped: Boyfriend Jeans
Typically looser and hangs perfectly around the waist, ripped boyfriend jeans are the perfect answer to your “what-should-I-wear-to-parties” question. They’re fun, flirty and carries a certain edge to it. To bring it up a notch, wear with bomber jackets and a crop top. A great blend of macho-ness and femininity, you’ll be the life of any party!
Ripped: Bleached Jeans
No, it’s not out of style if Kim K’s still wearing it. Need more proof? Maybe Taylor will change your mind. Bleached jeans can either be in a tie-dye form (meaning jeans with bleached patches) or jeans in a lighter wash than the usual denims. (They’ll look slightly more faded than regular ones!) Whichever it is, it sure adds an 80s vibe to any regular pair. Channel it with flowy tops and comfy cardigans. The perfect lazy day outfit, but the twist is that you still look dressed up! Score.
Ripped: Skinny Jeans
The more polished one among all, ripped skinny jeans are versatile and edgy. They’re good for night-outs, even better for casual brunches. For a few drinks with your girls, a simple peplum top would complete the look, along with a matching clutch. For weekend days out, those fitting jeans are good to go with a basic off-shoulder off top. Skinnies elongate your legs, so it’s time to invest in a good one!
Ripped: High-Waisted Jeans
Just like skinny jeans, ripped high-waisted jeans hug your curves at all the right places. Hanging just slightly above your waist, these gems don’t need much for you to look good in them. Sweaters will add a nice casual touch to it; a lace-up top will be your choice if you want to show some skin ;) Alter according to your occasion or mood, but either way, get ready to turn some heads!

Make A Statement With Heels
Tank tops and jeans. Doesn’t sound incredibly exciting, does it? But the best part about a simple outfit is that you have ample room to dress it up with accessories! If you’re afraid of going OTT (Over The Top), then limit the statement pieces to just one. In this case, heels would be the perfect finishing touch to add visual interest to your outfit PLUS make you feel extra confident. Win-win. Remember, ‘statement heels’ don’t just have to mean ‘bright and sparkly’. Even heels in a bright pop of colour can do the trick! If you want to go right on ahead and add even more accessories, hey, why not? Sometimes, going against the norm is good for the soul.

There’s something effortlessly chic about a loose collared shirt thrown over a dress. If you’ve got on a plain dress underneath, then opt for a printed shirt instead to give your outfit a little character. What kind of character you choose to portray is entirely up to you! Floral and feminine, cute and quirky or cool and edgy- it’s all in the print. If you’ve already got a printed dress underneath, go instead with a plain solid coloured shirt to add contrast. This casual weekend style works great with rompers too. Just mix things up and play around with it!

Heading out for an epic road trip with friends or family over the weekend? We can’t think of a more fun and carefree outfit than overalls. And yes, adults CAN wear them too! Paired with sneakers for maximum comfort, of course. Unsure what to wear under your overalls? Crop tops, regular round-neck tees or even sports bras will make a great complement! It just depends where you’re going and what makes you feel the most comfortable. Oh, and don’t forget to pack along your handy sunglasses. To protect your eyes from the sun AND score extra OOTD points.

You guessed it. This look is merely an adaptation of the ‘shirt over dress’ look. While we love the latter, we have to eventually face the music and realise that Malaysia is synonymous with the words ‘hot’ and ‘humid’. Keep the shirt on for cool, air-conditioned places but switch it down to your waist the moment the temperature rises. One thing’s for sure though, both outfits and equal parts casual and cool.

You know it’s going to be a (edgy) casual outfit if distressed jeans are in the picture. Distressed jeans look great with almost any top but we love the contrast it gives when paired along with something a little more ‘serious’, if you will. Button down shirts add a sophisticated, grown up flair to the overall look. If your weekend is going to be a busy one, flat shoes will be your lifesavers. Espadrilles, perhaps?

Shorts and weekends might as well be best friends given their common reputation: short but sweet. Still, if you’re someone who believes shorts are too ‘casual’, then amp it up with a statement top. Think bell sleeves, ruffle blouses or bold prints. Add a low heel to finish off the look and you’ll be ready for brunch with your girlfriends!

There really is nothing to not like about maxi dresses, is there? They’re versatile and sexy in a subtle way. If your weekend is going to be an errand-filled one, consider a maxi dress that’s either flowy or has a slit at the bottom. It’ll make walking or running around much easier, trust us. Pair with sneakers or flats during the day and switch it up to heels if you know you’ll be heading somewhere a little fancier at night.

5 Fashion Rules You CAN Break
You see a new fashion trend and got some good fashion tips you like on Pinterest and decide to try it yourself. You stare at yourself in the mirror and think you look pretty darn good, but then the voice at the back of your head goes ‘but this looks a bit weird’. After a while, you decide against it and go back to wearing what you normally do. Sound familiar?
A lot of us don’t experiment or stay in our comfort zone because we’re so afraid of what people might think. But in Shoppr, we believe you should always be confident in whatever you wear! Go against the norm, break all the fashion rules and always be unapologetically you ;)
Break Fashion Rule 1: Try print on print, on even more prints!
We’ve all heard this before: “don’t wear print on print, it’ll look too messy!” We get it, you feel obliged to make your outfit more minimalistic.. But if you think that polka dot shirt goes well with that striped skirt, go right ahead! Find the right patterns that complement each other (or heck, they don’t have to either!) and you’ll notice that a beautiful mess is still beautiful.
Shop Printed Blouse Shop Printed SkirtBreak Fashion Rule 2: Oversized clothes won’t eat you up
A lot of us are told that we should only wear clothes that fit perfectly, but do we really have to? Oversized clothes won’t make you look ‘big’, it won’t devour your frame or silhouette, and it definitely will not make you any less fashionable. Oversized blouses and tees are a trend, really! They give you that casual yet sophisticated touch, especially if paired with sleek pants or denim shorts!

Another ‘fashion rule’ we may have heard is that we should always cover up our stomach, especially if we don’t boast a set of toned abs. If you feel more comfortable not showing it, that’s fine. But if you do want to bare your midriffs, but you don’t have them Kylie Jenner abs, bare them anyway! What you wear is a reflection of who you are, never let people alter it for you. If wearing crop tops make you feel great, listen to Nike and just do it.
Shop Crop Tops Shop Bardot TopsBreak Fashion Rule 4: It doesn’t have to always match
May it be colours, patterns, style… we always try to match our clothes. Yes, matching clothes gives off a more ‘blended’ look, making it somewhat more cohesive. But don’t let this be your #1 guide at all times. Mix and match around freely- even if your bag don’t match with your shoes- and find a balance that you’re ultimately satisfied with. Remember, you don’t always have to match your shoe to your bag, to your top, to your bottom...you get the point!
Break Fashion Rule 5: Accessorize as you much as you like
Wear all the accessories you want,” said no one ever. But you most definitely can! Don’t only wear one accessory because that’s the ‘limit’, if you want to layer your necklaces (which is so easy to pull of!), wear rings AND dangly earrings at the same time, be our guest! It’s all about trying out what works best for you, and accessorising as much (or as little) as you please.

Yuna Proves That Modesty and Fashion Can Work Well Together!
She’s making waves wherever she goes, and we can’t help but feel proud of our very own Yuna! She shares her voice through her soulful music, and now she has another message to spread; modesty and fashion can indeed look good together.
#1 Layerings
Yuna does a lot of layering with her clothing. May it be with outerwear (coats, kimonos, jackets), or accessories (colourful scarves), or maybe even both at the same time! Try experimenting with different layers (if it’s not too hot) and mix and match around.
Shop Her Look →#2 Bright Prints & Colours
Yes, you can have the best of both worlds and wear both bright prints and colours. Yuna proves this right as she attends Coachella (we’re jealous!) wrapped in funky prints, colourful pieces and a whole lot of confidence.
Shop Her Look →#3 Oversized Coats
They’re cool, comfortable and gives your appearance an instant lift. Just like Yuna, pair them with simple basics like leggings, sneakers and tees for a chic contrast.
Shop Her Look →#4 Headscarves
Of course, the signature headscarf! Yuna says (many times, we might add) that it is NOT a sign of oppression. In fact, she feels even more confident in it. And we say, you do you, girl!

What to Dress for Events
Every morning, we all have that “what should I wear?” thought popping in our minds. But before an important event, that sentiment increases tenfold. We all (usually at the last minute) try to find that perfect dress for fancy occasions! From weddings to family gatherings, we’ve come up with a guide on dresses for you to look your best!
For: Family Dinners
Whether it’s your parent’s anniversary dinner or your 1 year old cousin’s birthday bash that he/she probably won’t remember, family gatherings are inevitable.
Maxi dresses are great for occasions like these as they’re easy to style with! You can add on any extra clothing or accessory according to the occasion, and looks good even if you choose not to. Too hot for your liking? Skater dresses are your next best choice as it can be worn for both casual or fancy events.
Family gatherings don’t happen frequently, but it’s great to keep a few of these dresses in your wardrobe in preparation!
For: Office Parties
We all go for the free food, let’s be honest here. However, just because it’s free food doesn’t mean you shouldn’t dress appropriately!
Midi dresses and shift dresses have the appropriate length for office events. Plus, you can move around easily in these dresses to mingle around or just help out in cleaning up after the event. If it’s a casual setting, wear a cardigan and flats; if it’s a fancier get-up, amp it up with accessories and low-heels.
Bonus: Since these dresses are already office-appropriate, you can wear them for work too! Just throw on a blazer and some heels. Perfect transition outfit!
For: Meetings
It’s not an actual event, but it is one you should dress up accordingly for! Again, follow the knee-length rule and remember that blazer!
A great choice for meetings is the peplum dress. The structure of the dress is simple yet classy, and flatters any body type. Another option for you is everyone’s classic go-to: the shirt dress. May it be plain, striped, long-sleeved, or buttoned, they’re perfect for formal events. Just make sure you go for the midi ones!
For: Fancy Dates
Finally, your beau is bringing you somewhere fancy-shmancy! Whether for a romantic dinner date overlooking the cityscape view or to watch a Broadway Musical (you probably won’t get to see Hamilton, but you can check out other awesome events here), you need a stand-out dress.
Sheer dresses are feminine and elegant, and comes in a huge variety for you to choose from! They stand out well from the rest of the dresses, and will serve you well on your romantic night out. Bodycon dresses work great too, but you might want to bring along a coat or a shawl in case it gets too chilly. (make sure it’s not too skimpy as well)
For: Weddings
You know it’s the ‘season of love’ when you get a whole bunch of invitations to attend weddings. Sometimes you get invitations from your mum’s best friend’s son’s wedding, and you’ve only met him once. Whatever it is, it’s still a joyous occasion! *cue in wedding bells*
There’s an unspoken rule when it comes to weddings, try not to go over-the-top. Wherever that came from, we second it. It’s the bride’s day to shine, and that in itself deserves to be celebrated! Go for lace dresses as it fits the love theme really well; cocktail dresses for that sexy yet stylish vibe. Just remember to avoid white!
For: Prom
It’s going to be a night to remember (cue in that catchy High School Musical song), so make it count! With a huge variation of prom dresses to choose from, you’ll find that exact dress you’ve been looking for here. We won’t say much, cause’ we know just how much you want this night to be perfect for you!
In case you’re still trying to figure out what dress to wear, here’s a few top choices:
Mermaid dresses: A dress with a flowy end at the bottom, named ‘mermaid’ because it resembles a mermaid tail. Perfect if you want a balance between subtle and extravagant!
Princess dresses: Similar to the mermaid dress, but more poofy at the top. You’ll definitely feel like a princess in this one!
Ball Gown: Almost everyone’s first choice, the ball gown looks like the Cinderella gown you’ve seen in the movies: poofy and made from a lot of sheer material from the waist down!
*Feel free to switch it up between dresses! This is just a simple guide, and you should always wear what you feel the most confident in :)
